First, thank you! Also, I agree with everything you said about failure. I've been much too afraid of failure in the past. It truly is paralyzing, so we need to push forward, take risks and not be pulled down when we mess up. I especially like your last statement that big mistakes are opportunities to grow! 💯💗
While I don't agree on every point, I do pray that both parties will decide that it's time to stop the insanity.
Both parties need to stop voting for laws to benefit their wealthy special interests & friends and start working across the aisle for the common good and common sense for the people of our country. They need to stop choosing horrible people to run for office and return to looking for great leaders of character, who care about benefitting the people of the US. They need to stop accusing people in the other party of being evil and bullying their party members to leave their brain out of the picture and only vote the way the party has decided is right.
All of these things would take many miracles. I do see God moving in new ways. Dear God, help me and help us all remember to pray daily for the people of the USA and our leaders!
[14] if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14 NIV
Thank you Marjorie for such a thoughtful article. I pray that the truth eventually prevails and that our leaders come together to pass policies that move our nation toward a brighter future.
Great post! I get so annoyed when they use slogans like "have you seen the other guys?" Yes, I've seen the other guys. They are hard to miss. Tell me ~why~ you're better.
Sometimes I think it's because of the strong fear of failure in our culture. Failure is inevitable and fearing it only causes unnecessary hardship. Republican seem to deal with it by rejecting the desire to be culturally sensitive at all while many Democrats are so cautious that they are nearly paralyzed to do anything at all for fear they will make a mistake. Of course there are those on both sides who have tried to make being correct as being part of their identity, so they could never be wrong. We need as a society to give space for failure and imperfections both in ourselves and others and to see big mistakes as opportunities to grow.
I hope the Democrats take the approach you described going forward and give a clearer view of what they have to offer!
Thanks, Elliot! Great comments about the fear of failure! I thought I was commenting earlier, and it turned into a comment on my article! I don't feel like repeating it, but I've had a lot of fear of failure myself. We need to push through and be bold!
This is a thoughtful and powerful reminder of what Democrats have achieved and what they stand for. I especially like the call for clear, positive messaging that highlights real results, like saving the economy and supporting science. Facts and hope together make a strong message for the future.
